WHST STA77-5 long range radar scores high in C-NCAP test
C-NCAP (China-New Car Assessment Program) is to test new vehicle models purchased on the market in accordance with stricter and more comprehensive requirements than China’s existing mandatory standards for crash safety performance testing. It aims to provide consumers with systematic and objective vehicle information as well as promotes the development and production of enterprises in accordance with higher safety standards, thereby effectively reducing injuries and losses from road traffic accidents.
According to the requirements of "C-NCAP Management Rules" (2018 Edition), for vehicles equipped with the AEB system, it's required to test the automatic emergency braking system (AEB CCR) and the pedestrian emergency braking system (AEB VRU-Ped). The test vehicle drives at different speeds to a stationary, slow-moving and braking simulation vehicle target and a pedestrian model target to check the braking and warning conditions of the tested vehicle without human intervention, thereby evaluating the performance of the AEB system is good or bad.
Recently, a upcoming vehicle model choose WHST STA77-5 long range radar to realize AEB function. It's the single radar solution. In the AEB CCR test which full score is 8 points, the radar scored 7.738 points, the scoring rate is 96.73%. In the AEB VRU Ped test, the radar scored 3 points which the full score is 3 points, the scoring rate is 100%. WHST became the first China domestic radar enterprise to successfully pass these test. This not only fully demonstrated the excellent quality and safety performance of WHST's radar, it was also the milestone for WHST in vehicle safety technology.
The STA77-5 radar is a 77GHz high-resolution long-range radar millimeter wave radar independently developed by WHST. It improves the angular resolution and detection range through the dual-beam technology which contain both wide and narrow beam and MIMO+DBF (Digital Beam Forming) technologies. It can accurately measure the distance, speed, angle, height and other information of the target vehicle within 210m in front of the vehicle, with three-dimensional resolution.
The radar can identify multiple target vehicles in front, provide accurate and real-time road information, and ensure the safety of the road ahead. It can simultaneously realize the following functions: Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and can also perform multi-sensor fusion with vision sensors, lidars, and corner radars to provide millimeter wave radar solutions for L2-L4 automatic driving such as TJA/HWA.
